Knights of Columbus Crown Free Throw Champions

Brother Ron Hill sends this report:

Four boys from the area were named local champions of the 2009 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship and have earned the right to compete at the district level. The Shrine of St. Rita in the Desert Council of the Knights of Columbus (Council 14230) in Vail sponsored the local competition at the Old Vail Middle School on January 25th. All youngsters aged 10 to 14 were eligible to compete. All participants received a certificate and patch for competing.

The following were named champions in their respective age groups: Edward Fink (11), Marco Palma (12), Nicholas Parker (13), and Charles Boyce (14). Each contestant was allowed 15 free throws until winners were determined.

Each of the winners will now be eligible to compete at the district competition to be held at Pius X on February 21 with an eye toward moving on to the State and International levels.

Prayer for Employment

O Jesus, Son of God and Son of
Mary, your Sacred Heart is an ocean
of mercy, of goodness, and of love
toward all but especially for the
poor and needy.

You were born in poverty. You
labored with your own hands, you
sanctified toil by choosing it for
your own life. O loving Heart of
Jesus please hear my prayer for
employment and in your Mother's
name, grant my request.

Amen
